No burning restrictions are in effect anywhere in New Jersey as of July 29, 2026 — the N.J. Forest Fire Service's live Fire Danger Dashboard shows Campfire Restrictions: No AND Agricultural Restrictions: No for all three regions (Northern, Central and Southern NJ), with fire danger LOW in every county. NJFFS manages limits through a staged system (campfire Stages 1–3 plus agricultural-burn restrictions) that can escalate quickly in hot, dry, windy spells — at Stage 3 all wood and charcoal fires are banned statewide, leaving only elevated stoves burning propane, natural gas or electricity. An NJFFS permit is still required for open burning generally. Check the live dashboard before any open burning.
