Combined sales tax in Nashville/Davidson County is 9.75% — 7.0% Tennessee state, a 2.25% local option tax, and a separate 0.5% transit surcharge stacked on top, effective February 1, 2025. The local option portion applies only to the first $1,600 of each item. Unprepared food is taxed at 6.25%, and some downtown CBID purchases carry an extra 0.5%.
