Terms of Use

Effective: May 17, 2026 · Last updated: May 24, 2026

These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your use of the LawLert mobile app and the website at lawlertapp.com (collectively, the "Service"). The Service is operated by Gino Cattuzzo ("we," "us," "our"). By creating an account or using the Service you agree to these Terms.

If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. The most important thing

LawLert is not legal advice. It is general informational content about U.S. state laws on cannabis, alcohol, gambling, and firearms. We are not your lawyer. The Service is not a substitute for an attorney. Laws change. Facts vary. Edge cases exist. Confirm anything that matters with a licensed attorney in the relevant jurisdiction before acting on it.

You agree that you will not rely on the Service to decide whether any specific conduct is lawful in any specific place and situation. If you act on what the Service tells you, you do so at your own risk.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 17 years old to use the Service. Some content discusses substances and activities restricted to adults 18+ or 21+; if you're below the relevant legal age in your jurisdiction, do not use the information to make decisions about such substances or activities. You also must not be barred by U.S. law from using digital services (e.g., persons on certain sanctions lists).

3. Your account

You create an account using your email and a password, or via Sign in with Apple. You are responsible for keeping your password confidential and for all activity that happens under your account. Tell us promptly at support@lawlertapp.com if you believe your account is compromised.

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, attempt to abuse the Service, or use it for unlawful purposes.

You can delete your account at any time by emailing support@lawlertapp.com.

4. Subscriptions and billing

4.1 Free tier

The Service is free to use for state summaries, risk pills, and notable callouts. Free use does not require a subscription.

4.2 LawLert Pro subscription

LawLert Pro is an optional auto-renewing subscription, priced at $2.99 per month in the United States. Pro unlocks statute citations, penalty detail, and exceptions/nuances content for every state.

Billing through Apple. Subscription payment is charged to your Apple ID at confirmation of purchase. Apple is the merchant of record; we never see your payment method.

Auto-renewal. Your subscription automatically renews each month at the then-current rate unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your Apple ID will be charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period.

Managing or cancelling. You can manage your subscription, change your plan, or cancel auto-renewal at any time through your device's Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions. We cannot cancel your subscription on your behalf; you must do it through Apple.

Refunds. All refund requests must be made through Apple. We do not process refunds directly. You can request refunds at https://reportaproblem.apple.com/.

Price changes. If we change the price, we will give you notice at least 30 days in advance and you can cancel before the change takes effect.

4.3 No promises about price stability

The subscription price is subject to change. We will notify you in advance of any change as described above.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Use the Service to engage in illegal activity.

  • Reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract our source code, except where U.S. law expressly permits.

  • Use automated tools to scrape, harvest, or extract content from the Service beyond what's allowed by robots.txt and reasonable use.

  • Resell or redistribute Pro content. Pro content is licensed to you for personal use.

  • Use the Service to harm other users or to access another user's account.

  • Use the Service in any way that would expose us to legal liability.

6. Intellectual property

We own the Service, including the LawLert name, logo, design, summaries, and Pro content. We license you the right to use the Service for personal, non-commercial purposes for as long as your account is in good standing.

User content (e.g., feedback you send us via email) is yours; if you send us a suggestion, we may use it without owing you anything. We will not publicly attribute feedback to you without permission.

Statutory text we cite in Pro content is in the public domain and citable freely. Our summaries, organization, and exceptions write-ups are our copyrighted work.

7. Privacy

How we handle your data is described in our Privacy Policy, which is part of these Terms.

8. Disclaimers

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available." We disclaim all warranties to the maximum extent allowed by law, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement.

Legal information disclaimer. The Service provides general informational summaries about state and federal laws. We make a good-faith effort to keep it accurate, but laws change frequently, our summaries necessarily omit nuance, and we make no warranty that any specific statement is current, complete, or applicable to your situation. Do not rely on the Service as legal advice. Consult a licensed attorney in the relevant jurisdiction.

No attorney-client relationship. Using the Service does not create an attorney-client relationship between you and us. We are not licensed to practice law. Communications you send us through the app or via support email are not protected by attorney-client privilege.

9. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent allowed by law:

  • We are not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or punitive damages arising out of or related to the Service.

  • Our total liability for any claim related to the Service is limited to the greater of $50 or the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose.

  • We are not liable for losses arising from your reliance on the Service for legal decisions. You assume all risk for such decisions.

Some jurisdictions don't allow certain disclaimers or limits, so some of the above may not apply to you.

10. Indemnification

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold us harmless from claims, damages, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of your use of the Service in violation of these Terms or applicable law.

11. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Nevada, without regard to conflict of law principles.

For disputes, we'd ask you to first contact us at support@lawlertapp.com so we can try to resolve things informally. If we can't, exclusive jurisdiction and venue for any dispute lies in the state and federal courts located in Nevada, and you consent to personal jurisdiction in those courts.

If you're a consumer in a jurisdiction with non-waivable consumer-protection laws (e.g., EU, California), those laws may give you additional rights that override these terms.

12. Changes to the Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you in the app and update the "Last updated" date. Continued use of the Service after a material change means you accept the updated Terms.

13. Miscellaneous

  • Entire agreement. These Terms plus the Privacy Policy are the complete agreement between you and us about the Service.

  • Severability. If a provision is found unenforceable, the rest of the Terms remain in effect.

  • No waiver. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of our right to enforce it later.

  • Assignment. You may not assign these Terms. We may assign them to an acquirer in connection with a corporate transaction.

  • Notices. We will send notices to the email associated with your account. You can reach us at support@lawlertapp.com.
