You must be at least 16 to buy consumer fireworks in Tennessee — a 2007 law bars anyone under 16 from purchasing. Buyers who are 16 or 17 must present a photo ID. Fireworks may only be sold by retailers holding a State Fire Marshal permit for each location. Sky lanterns are professional-use only and may be confiscated from anyone without a license.
