RESTRICTED

Leave the US walkie-talkies at home. Greece's national frequency plan gives 460-470 MHz to defence systems and licensed PMR only, and carries no licence-free exemption anywhere for the 462/467 MHz that American FRS/GMRS radios use - the only licence-free UHF voice band is PMR446 (446.000-446.200 MHz). Signal jammers are separately banned from being sold or used. And since September 2024 the regulator can fine ANY person, not just a dealer, up to EUR 60,000 for non-compliant radio equipment.

Presidential Decree 98/2017 art. 44, as replaced by Presidential Decree 53/2024 art. 1(9) (Government Gazette A' 152, 25.09.2024, in force that day): EETT may impose a recommendation or "Prostimo eos exinta chiliades (60.000) evro" - a fine of up to EUR 60,000 - by specially reasoned decision after a hearing. The 2024 replacement deleted the economic-operator gateway that had confined the 2017 version to traders, so the fine now attaches to infringements of the decree generally. A payment within 30 days reduces the sum to two thirds (Law 4727/2020 art. 138(7)). Separately, Law 4727/2020 art. 116(4) puts the duty to remove interference immediately on the HOLDER OR USER of the equipment. NOT applicable to a private traveller: the criminal frequency offence in art. 138(8) (at least six months plus a heavy fine, with seizure and confiscation of equipment) is textually addressed to "epicheiriseis" - undertakings. Obstructing public telecommunications is separately criminal under Penal Code art. 292E: at least one year plus a fine, but only where the disruption is on a large scale or of long duration and the installation serves the public.

§ EETT (Hellenic Telecommunications and Post Commission) consumer guidance, "Chrisi fasmatos - paremvoles", Q12 "Epitrepetai i chrisi repeater kai jammer apo to koino?" - read verbatim on the live page this run. Primary instruments re-verified first-hand in the official Government Gazette (Ethniko Typografeio) files hosted by EETT this run: Law 4727/2020 arts. 116(4) and 116(7), Gazette A' 184/23.09.2020 (https://www.eett.gr/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/N4727-2020.pdf); Presidential Decree 98/2017 arts. 2(11), 7(1) and 44, Gazette A' 139/20.09.2017 (https://www.eett.gr/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/FEK_2017_139A.pdf); Presidential Decree 53/2024 art. 1(9), Gazette A' 152/25.09.2024 (https://www.eett.gr/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/%CE%A0%CE%94-53_2024.pdf); National Frequency Allocation Plan EKKZS 2025 (Ministerial Decision oik. 24549 EX 2025), Gazette B' 4230/04.08.2025, footnote E25 and the 460-470 MHz allocation row (https://www.eett.gr/wp-content/uploads/2025/08/%CE%95%CE%9A%CE%9A%CE%96%CE%A3_2025.pdf). All four PDFs carried extractable text layers - no OCR was relied on. Law 3783/2009 (prepaid SIM identification) was NOT re-verified in the gazette this run; see detail.
