Alaska Open Container Law (2026)

Restricted: Open containers prohibited in the passenger compartment while driving on a highway or vehicular way; exceptions: trunk, on a motor-driven cycle or behind the last upright seat of a trunkless vehicle (if re-enclosed in another container), behind a solid partition, or passengers in for-hire vehicles seating 12+.

Open containers prohibited in the passenger compartment while driving on a highway or vehicular way; exceptions: trunk, on a motor-driven cycle or behind the last upright seat of a trunkless vehicle (if re-enclosed in another container), behind a solid partition, or passengers in for-hire vehicles seating 12+. "Open" includes a broken seal; glove/utility compartments count as passenger compartment. Violation is an infraction (AS 28.35.029).
