What we got wrong — and fixed, in public
LawLert’s whole promise is that the law we show you is sourced and current. Living up to that means re-checking rules against their official sources on a schedule — and sometimes those checks catch a rule that’s wrong or out of date. When that happens we fix it and log it here: what it said, what it says now, why, and the official source. Some errors we catch before they ever publish (a re-check found that Riverside, CA had legalized dispensaries in 2023, so we never loaded it as a ban); the ones below reached the app and were corrected. This page is deliberately public — a legal-information product that never admits a mistake isn’t one you should trust.

Iowa City sales tax corrected after a local-option tax took effect
A voter-approved LOST took effect July 1, 2026; the pre-effective row was stale. Corrected to 7%.
Critical-infrastructure penalty corrected upward
SL 2026 ch. 192 raised the penalty for unlawful drone operation over critical infrastructure to a Class 6 felony.
Privacy citation corrected after renumbering
The Hawaii statute was renumbered by L 2024 c 161; the citation now points to the current section.
Hunting-with-drone basis corrected
§2308 doesn't name drones; the enforceable prohibition on hunting/scouting with drones is the Game Commission regulation. Reworded to the correct authority.
Concealed-carry classification corrected
The concealed-knife offense class was mislabeled; corrected to match the statute.
Critical-infrastructure offense narrowed to the enacted text
Re-sourced to the enacting act and narrowed the summary to what the statute actually prohibits.
BUI corrected — Rhode Island does have a per-se BAC limit
An earlier note relied on §46-22-9 (impairment only); §46-22.2-3 sets a 0.08% per-se limit. Corrected.
Switchblades corrected from “banned” to legal
Delaware's switchblade ban (11 Del. C. §1446) was repealed effective July 30, 2025 by SB 108; our earlier “banned” status was out of date.
Cherokee County sales tax corrected upward
Cherokee County added a TSPLOST penny; the current GA DOR rate chart shows 7%. Corrected.
Window-tint rule corrected to the actual statute
The “top 4 inches” figure isn't in the California Vehicle Code; §26708 sets the 29-inch line. Corrected to the statute.
