Info: Wisconsin has no statewide burn ban. The DNR's official burn-restriction feed, read August 25, 2026, does NOT show fire danger low everywhere: it posts HIGH in Bayfield and Sawyer counties and MODERATE in 11 more (Ashland, Barron, Burnett, Douglas, Florence, Iron, Marinette, Polk, Price, Rusk and Washburn); the other 59 counties post LOW.

Wisconsin has no statewide burn ban. The DNR's official burn-restriction feed, read August 25, 2026, does NOT show fire danger low everywhere: it posts HIGH in Bayfield and Sawyer counties and MODERATE in 11 more (Ashland, Barron, Burnett, Douglas, Florence, Iron, Marinette, Polk, Price, Rusk and Washburn); the other 59 counties post LOW. The feed is not a same-day statewide snapshot — each county carries its own posting date, and those range from June 5 to August 21, 2026, so treat a county's rating as its most recent posting rather than today's. Debris burning runs on free DNR permits in DNR forest-fire protection areas, and an annual permit is not required June 1 through December 31 in many counties unless emergency burning restrictions are in effect. DAILY burn restrictions do not post until after 9 a.m. Central — check WisBURN or call 1-888-WIS-BURN (947-2876) on the day you plan to burn. In counties and areas not regulated by the DNR, local fire departments and municipal ordinances control burning.
