The rule today

Idaho issues fire restrictions by area (national forest, BLM district, IDL protection area), so there is no single statewide Stage. AS OF SEPTEMBER 12, 2026 NO IDAHO FIRE RESTRICTION ZONE IS IN FORCE: IDL's official Fire Restrictions layer, last edited September 11, 2026, shows all 25 of its zones at Stage None, with no zone at Stage 1 and none at Stage 2. The last entries still in force were the six South Idaho Fire Restriction Area records (the Shoshone, Three Creek, Cassia and Sawtooth North zones, with Cassia and Sawtooth North each carrying both a state and a National Forest record); the layer now timestamps their return to no-restriction status to September 11, 2026. The Boise, Coeur d'Alene, Central Idaho, Eastern Idaho, Grangeville, Payette and Wilderness restriction areas are clear as well, and BLM has separately posted rescissions of all fire restrictions on BLM-managed land in its Boise and Coeur d'Alene districts. Lifting the seasonal Stage restrictions does not remove year-round federal fire orders, IDL burn-permit requirements or stricter city and county rules, so confirm with the local land manager before you burn. On IDL's map yellow = Stage 1 and red = Stage 2.
