Japón registra los drones a partir de 100 g, muy por debajo de los 250 g de la UE: un dron pequeño que en Europa no requiere nada aquí necesita registro y un Remote ID que emita. Volar sin registro se castiga con hasta 1 año de prisión o multa de 500.000 yenes, y un visitante solo puede registrarse por correo postal internacional, así que no se puede hacer al llegar.

Civil Aeronautics Act art. 157-7(1)(i) - flying an unregistered drone: up to 1 year's imprisonment or a fine up to 500,000 yen. Art. 157-9(1) - flying without the marking/Remote ID measures, flying in prohibited airspace, or breaching the night-flight, visual-line-of-sight, 30 m separation, over-event, dangerous-goods or object-dropping rules: fine up to 500,000 yen. Act No. 67 of 2023 art. 2(1) - covert sexual photographing: up to 3 years' imprisonment or a fine up to 3,000,000 yen; art. 3, providing such records to many persons or public display, up to 5 years or 5,000,000 yen.
