Suppressors are legal in Tennessee once they are registered under the federal National Firearms Act (NFA). TN Code 39-17-1302 lists a silencer as a prohibited weapon, but 39-17-1308 provides a complete defense for registered items. Hunting with a suppressor is legal for persons holding the federal license.
