Signal jammers are illegal to even have in Canada - the ban covers possessing, importing and selling one, not just switching it on. An individual faces up to CAD $5,000 and a year in jail on summary conviction, or an administrative penalty of up to CAD $25,000 for a first violation and CAD $50,000 after that.
Summary conviction under s.10(1) of the Radiocommunication Act: an individual faces a fine up to CAD $5,000, imprisonment up to one year, or both (a corporation, up to CAD $25,000). Separately, an administrative monetary penalty under s.15.1 of up to CAD $25,000 for a first violation and CAD $50,000 for a subsequent one. Equipment may be seized.
