Info: Every motor vehicle must be operated, equipped and adjusted to prevent unnecessary or unusual noise, and internal-combustion vehicles must carry a muffler in good working order and in use whenever the vehicle is operated.

Every motor vehicle must be operated, equipped and adjusted to prevent unnecessary or unusual noise, and internal-combustion vehicles must carry a muffler in good working order and in use whenever the vehicle is operated. Installing or using a gutted muffler, a muffler cutout, a straight exhaust, or a muffler lacking interior baffle plates is prohibited, except when the vehicle is run in a sanctioned race or public exhibition. Maximum noise levels are set by DMV regulation (C.G.S. Sec. 14-80a). (C.G.S. Sec. 14-80.)
