Open containers (anything not in the manufacturer's sealed condition) prohibited in the passenger area on public highways; applies to driver and passengers. Exempt: trunk/storage/cargo areas and truck beds, locked case behind the front seat of a trunkless pickup, self-contained campers/motor homes, passengers of for-hire vehicles or buses with a CDL driver, and parked vehicles with the engine off (not on a highway right-of-way). Class C misdemeanor, max $25 fine, no court costs; not a moving violation and no license points (Ala. Code 32-5A-330).
