But 4 of Florida's 67 counties DO have an active county burn ban on the FFS County-Enacted Burn Ban Map, each limited to yard debris: Duval (Jacksonville), Hillsborough (Tampa), Orange (Orlando) and Pinellas (St. Petersburg/Clearwater); the other 63 report "No Burn Ban." Florida burn bans are enacted COUNTY-BY-COUNTY and change week to week, triggered when a county's Keetch-Byram Drought Index (KBDI) crosses local thresholds. FFS warns that counties are not required to tell the state when they enact or lift a ban, and the layer behind the map carries a September 2, 2026 data stamp with 7 of the 67 county entries - Pinellas among them - never dated at all, so call your local city or county fire department to be sure. FFS authorization is required for open burning beyond small yard-waste piles, and burning is barred during Red Flag Warnings.
