Before
Louisiana has no statewide burn ban, but 21 of its 64 parishes are under a parish burn ban right now: Beauregard, Bienville, Bossier, Caddo, Caldwell, Catahoula, Franklin, Grant, Jackson, Lincoln, Morehouse, Natchitoches, Ouachita, Red River, Richland, Sabine, Union, Vernon, Webster, West Carroll and Winn. That list is read parish by parish from LDAF's own live burn-ban map layer, which carries an October 5, 2026 data stamp. On October 5, 2026 JACKSON PARISH WAS ADDED and DE SOTO PARISH CAME OFF the list, so the count stayed at 21 while the membership changed. Louisiana restricts burning parish by parish when fire risk rises, and parish or city rules may be stricter, so check the official LDAF burn-ban map for your own parish before you burn - the list changes as parish governments add and lift bans. Even where no ban applies, only vegetation and ordinary yard waste may legally be open-burned; plastics, tires, chemicals, shingles, wire and paper products are always illegal to burn (LDEQ).
