Illinois allows sparklers and novelties only: sparklers, party poppers, snappers, snakes and glow worms, smoke devices, and trick noisemakers. Firecrackers, bottle rockets, Roman candles, helicopters, missiles, pinwheels and all 1.4G aerials and handhelds are prohibited (allowed only under a local display permit).
