Wyoming Open Container Law (2026)

Restricted: Prohibited. No person may consume, transport or possess an alcoholic beverage in a motor vehicle while it is in motion on a public street or highway unless it is: in the original unopened container with the seal unbroken; in the trunk or another outside compartment not readily accessible to anyone in the vehicle; in the unoccupied bed of a pickup out of the driver's reach; in an unoccupied rear compartment not normally occupied by passengers and not readily accessible to the driver; or secured in a cabinet or compartment of a recreational vehicle that the driver cannot readily reach - and in an RV it must stay secured and must not be accessed by the driver or any passenger while the vehicle is in motion.

Prohibited. A resealed bottle of wine may be transported per W.S. 12-4-410(e). Penalty: up to $200 for a first conviction; up to $300 and/or 30 days for a second conviction within one year. (W.S. 31-5-235.)
