Connecticut has no statewide burn ban. DEEP's Daily Forest Fire Danger Report for Wednesday, August 26, 2026 rates Northern Litchfield and Northern Hartford counties MODERATE and all other areas LOW. Standing rule: open burning of brush requires a signed permit from your town's Open Burning Official, and that permit is NOT valid when the Forest Fire Danger is rated High, Very High or Extreme and you are burning within 100 feet of grassland or woodland. Connecticut's high-danger season traditionally runs mid-March through May, so summer ratings are usually low.
