Fireworks

Consumer fireworks are legal to buy and use statewide, but retail sales are allowed only May 23–July 12 and December 5–January 9 (Miss. Code § 45-13-9, as amended by 2025 S.B. 2210). No sales to anyone under 12. It is unlawful to ignite or discharge fireworks within 600 feet of a church, hospital or school, within 75 feet of where fireworks are stored or offered for sale, or from, into or at a motor vehicle. Violations are a misdemeanor — up to $1,000 first offense, $2,500 second, $5,000 third (reduced from a felony in 2025). Municipalities and county boards of supervisors may regulate or prohibit fireworks locally (§ 45-13-13).
