RESTRICTED

Norway caps the food you may carry in. Travelling from the EEA you may bring a total of 10 kg of meat, meat products, cheese and animal feed per person aged 12 or over; beyond that quota it is the duty-free value limit that decides how much you may bring. From outside the EEA you may not bring meat or dairy products in your personal luggage or by post at all without a special permit from the Norwegian Food Safety Authority - Switzerland, Liechtenstein, Iceland, Andorra and San Marino are exempt from that permit. Potatoes may not be imported without special permission. Norway is outside the EU customs territory, so EU free-movement rules do not apply here. Dog and cat food is outside the 10 kg limit; children under 12 may bring in only soft drinks, chocolate and sugar products duty free.

Goods without the required permit, approval or labelling may be withheld by Norwegian Customs and ultimately seized and destroyed. The Movement of Goods Regulations section 12-11-1 (1) f provides for a fine in lieu of prosecution for goods offences.
