Bringing cannabis (including buds) or CBD into Thailand without a permit is illegal no matter where you bought it; effective 17 June 2026 cannabis imports are a customs offense punishable by up to 10 years in prison, a fine up to 500,000 baht, or both.

§ U.S. Embassy ThailandSince 26 June 2025 cannabis in Thailand is restricted to medical use only — it can be obtained solely with a prescription from a licensed medical professional (30-day supply maximum), and recreational shop, online and vending-machine sales, plus all cannabis advertising, are banned.
Selling or possessing cannabis without a valid medical prescription is now an offense.
