By statute, a motor vehicle other than a motorcycle must display one plate on the front and one on the rear (A.C.A. 27-14-716(a)(1)). In practice Arkansas issues only one plate for most passenger vehicles, and where one plate is issued it goes on the rear — so most drivers carry a rear plate only. Two plates must both be displayed if two were issued.
