Consumer fireworks - items that may be sold under 15 U.S.C. Sec. 1261, 21 U.S.C. Sec. 371 and 16 C.F.R. part 1507 - are lawful statewide unless the county has prohibited their sale or use. County commissioners may prohibit them by resolution or adopt rules authorizing sale, and county bans in effect on February 1, 1990 remain valid. Cities and towns may impose further regulations or prohibitions by ordinance. Anything beyond the consumer class may be discharged only as a supervised public display under a permit from the local governing body. Violations are a misdemeanor: fine up to $750, up to 60 days, or both. (W.S. 35-10-201 through 35-10-208.)
